About One Image

I once read a book called 'Singular Images: Essays on Remarkable Photographs' (and then read and re-read it) ed by Sophie Howarth, Tate Publishing, 2005. In it, celebrated critics responded to particular iconic images with wonderful, insightful essays looking closely at the  images before them, extracting myriad starting points in which to view and re-evaluate these photographs. This blog exists in a similar vein. My aim is to respond to images with writings (they could be by famous photographers, by myself, by other photographer friends, etc). These mostly (some might take the form of another artform) written responses could be poems,short essays, allusive writings, letters, non-fiction. One image and one response per blog. So often, we get lost in a sea of imagery. This is a place to slow down and drink in one image at a time.
